Last week, the Genesis School Board, the Green Living Charity Fund, and Capital House Group collaborated to visit Yên Bái to support schools and students facing difficulties after Typhoon Yagi.
With a total support fund of 400 million VND, 200 million VND was distributed to schools in Yên Bái, including Nga Quán Kindergarten and Primary School, Y Can Primary and Secondary School No. 1, and Đào Thịnh Primary and Secondary School. Each school received 60 million VND, with half of the funds allocated for the school kitchens, and the remaining amount assisting 119 student families in challenging situations, such as disabilities, completely collapsed homes, severe flooding, or significant economic impacts due to the storm. The Trấn Yên District Department of Education and Training proposed a list of schools in urgent need of support to ensure students can continue learning in a safe and quality environment. The Sao Mai Kindergarten (located in Yên Bái City) also received 20 million VND to upgrade its teaching equipment.
The remaining 200 million VND was allocated to Khu Chu Phìn School in Sàng Ma Sáo commune, Bát Xát District, Lào Cai Province, for repairing heavily damaged ceilings and roofing. The project is expected to be completed by November 15, 2024, providing a better learning environment for students as winter approaches.
Unlike previous emergency relief efforts, this initiative focuses on the reconstruction phase, helping schools maintain their kitchens, enhance educational facilities, and support student families in overcoming difficulties after the disaster. The school will continue to update parents on the status of the support fund to ensure transparency throughout this reconstruction journey.
