The IPC program and the Green Project subject – are two special highlights in the education program at Genesis School, which is currently receiving a lot of attention from many parents. Let’s find out together!
1. I know that many primary schools now also apply the IPC Program. So what’s different about the IPC Program at Genesis?
IPC stands for International Primary Curriculum. IPC carries the essence of a comprehensive, creative educational program organized by theme for children aged 5 to 11. At Genesis, we have many advantages to implement the IPC program to achieve our educational, personal, and global goals effectively.
- Genesis’s program development team has solid expertise, extensive experience in international program implementation, and always accompanies and goes to every lesson to guide and support teachers in the teaching process. One thing to note is that, for grade 1, the lessons of the IPC program have 2 teachers in charge, including 1 foreign teacher and 1 Vietnamese teacher, to help students familiarize themselves with the learning and teaching methods of this particular program. In addition, the entire IPC program aims to maximize the combination of international experience and local knowledge, to ensure that students receive knowledge from many perspectives, while allowing optimally personalized instruction.

- Genesis aims to integrate 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations into the topics of each grade, not only in the IPC program but also in a number of other subjects. Thereby, Genesis continuously strengthens comprehensive knowledge and skills from multiple perspectives so that students can continuously train and practice a Green lifestyle.
- Modern facilities, low construction density, and many open spaces at Genesis also meet the practice-focused methods of the IPC program such as school gardens, sand courts, makerspace, etc.
2.I have read documents about the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations but still do not understand how to integrate these 17 goals into the educational program?
From Genesis’ point of view, the integration of the 17 United Nations sustainable development goals will not only stop at the educational program but will be realized in the entire school’s activities. From the construction of the facilities (saving energy, maximizing green space, living harmoniously and respectfully with nature) to the respect for individuals in overall harmony with the surrounding environment (respect differences, respect individual identity, ensure equality, …) and set 17 sustainable development goals firmly as a core theme of many subjects and interdisciplinary teaching activities at Genesis.
These goals are selected, combined to cleverly put into units at all grade levels. The sustainable development goals are especially relevant to the themes of the IPC Program. For other subjects like Green Project, English, Literature, etc., the goals are broken down and used to enrich the lesson content, so that students can learn about them in a more intuitive and practical way.
The Table below shows the specific subgroups of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals integrated into the IPC/Green Project curriculum for each grade level.
Grade 1: typical lessons that integrate interdisciplinary, integrate sustainable development goals: Healthy life: Water resources; Land resources. |
Grade 2: important topics include Decent Work and Economic Growth; Sustainable Cities and Communities; Responsible Consumption and Production |
Grade 3: students will be familiar with the concept of Poverty Alleviation; Hunger eradication; Clean water and sanitation |
Grade 4: sustainable development goals including Clean and Sustainable Energy; Reducing inequality; Industry, innovation and infrastructure |
Grade 5: Quality of education; Gender equality; Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions; Working together to realize goals |
3. I was told that the school has been implementing the Green Project subject for nearly 3 years. So how effective has this subject been in education?
Genesis School has implemented the Green Project subject since 2019 and this is a special subject only available at the School. Accordingly, for students who have studied the subject from the first to the third grade, parents and teachers can notice that the children have changed a lot in terms of knowledge, attitudes, and skills in related issues. environmental issues.
In terms of knowledge, the Green Project subject chooses to pose environmental issues in a way that is close to students, to their surrounding lives such as recycling waste, saving energy in electricity, water, or food products, .. The content is integrated with the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations according to the interdisciplinary teaching method so that knowledge can be “absorbed” in the most natural way.
In terms of skills, the Green Project subject maximizes the effectiveness of the project-based teaching method, helping students form and develop skills in research, information search, presentation, design thinking, Critical thinking, teamwork skills, etc. In particular, teachers pay great attention to building a green project learning culture in a more “mature” direction. For example, from speeches, thoughts, or through video lessons, all contribute to eliciting empathy about life in many different aspects. In addition, the subject encourages students to use English, contributing to creating an environment for students to practice this second language.
In terms of awareness, students all form a sense of the importance of recycling and reducing usage in their daily lives at school and at home from the smallest actions.
4. How is the Green Project course organized and what is the content of the course?
The Green Project course applies the project-based teaching method in accordance with Genesis School’s practical educational orientation. Accordingly, the content of the course will be divided into projects related to environmental protection issues, around 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations.
Each project lasts for two months with the steps of understanding concepts, doing experiments/individual projects, and finally doing a large class/grade project to participate in the final showcase with the participation of the parents. Students actively take the steps to learn about topics, research, find information, conduct experiments, build presentations, etc. The teacher plays the role of guiding, supporting, and providing learning resources.
Each class has a maximum of 25 students, so teachers can carry out many personalized teaching activities. All students have the opportunity to practice, practice skills and express themselves.
