With the enthusiastic guidance from the “station leaders,” the “apprentice engineers” took hammers in hand and used their own effort to craft wooden clock models, gear mechanisms, and more. Meanwhile, the older campers became “architects,” participating in an exciting challenge: designing earthquake-resistant house models. The anticipation, anxiety, and joy were palpable as they watched their houses withstand dozens of simulated quakes.
